An Aranese house dating from 1876, restored with respect for what has always been here: timber, stone and memory. Accommodation for up to 18 people in Es Bordes, where the mountains begin at the door.
It isn’t luxury. It’s restored authenticity.
In 1876, when Val d'Aran was still isolated from the rest of the peninsula, this house was built and later became the village town hall. Stone from the nearby mountains and timber from the valley’s forests shaped a building that today, almost 150 years later, is regaining its splendour.
For decades, the house witnessed the valley’s transformations: from a high-mountain farming and livestock society to mining, the arrival of electricity, the opening of the Vielha Tunnel, and the evolution of a rural society into a community that preserved its identity while opening up to the world.
Today, we have brought it back to life while respecting its essence. Every beam, every stone, every corner tells a story that you can now experience.
Today, Es Deth Baile is still what it has always been: a solid, peaceful and honest house. Open and made for enjoying your stay. Because some stories need no embellishment. They simply need to be lived.
Living the mountains starts with where you stay.
In a valley open to the Atlantic and surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees.

To wake up in the valley. To enjoy an unhurried breakfast. To head out walking, cycling or skiing. To return to the house, light the fire and share the day. Es Deth Baile does not want to separate the accommodation from the mountains. It wants to be part of them.

Es Deth Baile is in Es Bordes, in the Aran Valley. From here, paths, roads, forests and days in the mountains begin. Baqueira Beret, the great Pyrenean passes and some of the valley’s most distinctive landscapes are all part of the territory surrounding the house.

Restore without erasing.
The house is coming back to life while respecting its architecture, materials and history. We do not want to turn an old house into something new. We want it to remain itself, adapted to the 21st century.
