Es Deth Baile wasn't built to be accommodation. It was built to be a home. It was built in 1876, back when things were made to last. Stone. Wood. True history.
For generations it was an important house in Es Bordes. A place of decisions, of meetings, of daily life. One of those houses that the whole village recognizes even if no one talks about it. Time passed. As it always does. But the house remained.
When we decided to restore it, one thing was clear: we didn't want to turn it into anything other than what it had always been. We didn't fill it with rooms. We didn't multiply the beds. We didn't disguise it as a hotel. We restored it with respect, maintaining its character, accepting its limitations, and understanding that its value lay precisely there.
Today, Es Deth Baile remains what it always was: a solid, quiet, and honest house. Open to a select few. Designed to last. Because some stories don't need embellishment. They just need to continue.
THE HEART OF THE HOUSE
Ground floor
The ground floor is the heart of Es Deth Baile. Here you'll find the kitchen where we prepare and serve breakfast every morning, using local products and traditional Aranese recipes.
It is also the common space for conversation, reading or simply being, with the fireplace as the center of gravity when the cold arrives from the mountains.
Philosophy
We are not your typical hotel or rural guesthouse. Es Deth Baile was born from the conviction that there is another way to travel: slower, more conscious, more authentic.
We believe in local tourism, local artisans, and seasonal products. We believe in silence as a luxury and in the beauty of imperfection.
Every decision—from the furniture we use to furnish our rooms to the producers who supply us—answers the same question: Does this make the experience of those who visit us more authentic?
